Every model solves a different mounting problem. Here's how OEM engineers use each configuration in real equipment.
An equipment OEM designs a four-level tank monitoring system using ERECTA SWITCH extended stem components. Each switching point needs a 10-782 as the sensing element. The bare switch threads into a 10-715 precision nipple at the exact depth required, then the complete stem assembly mounts into the tank via ERECTA SWITCH accessories. The 10-782 is also the correct choice when the OEM has designed their own proprietary mounting fixture with a 1/8″ NPT boss. No extra hardware needed — just the switch.
A CNC machine builder needs low-coolant detection in the reservoir mounted under the machine base. The poly tank has a 1/4″ threaded boss molded into the lid. The 10-792-PP drops in, seals with the Viton O-ring, and locks down with the jam nut — no sealant, no Teflon tape. The switch signals the CNC controller to pause the program and alert the operator before the spindle runs dry. Coolant is water-soluble cutting fluid — polypropylene handles it without degradation.
A backup generator packager installs day tanks on rooftops exposed to rain, snow, and wash-down spray. The 10-793-R-AC provides the weathertight receptacle with a 1/2″ knockout that accepts a liquid-tight strain relief connector — sealing the wire egress completely. Acetal construction handles diesel fuel without swelling or cracking. The wire splices stay dry inside the receptacle body. The switch signals the building management system when fuel drops below the refill threshold. No junction box needed — the receptacle IS the junction box.
A chemical metering system builder needs level detection in standard 275-gallon IBC totes that come with 2″ NPT bungs. The 10-794-R-KR threads directly into the existing bung opening — no drilling, no adapters, no modifications to the tote. PVDF Kynar handles the sodium hypochlorite, hydrochloric acid, or ferric chloride inside. The adapter nests the 10-793-R receptacle inside a 2″ NPT shell, so the OEM still gets weathertight wiring in a drop-in package. The metering pump controller reads the switch to prevent dry-running.
An aqueous parts washer manufacturer has recirculation pumps that create continuous surface turbulence in the wash tank. Without a slosh shield, the float bounces on every wave and generates false switch actuations — the controller thinks the tank is alternately full and empty dozens of times per minute. The 10-795-PP surrounds the float with a cylindrical still well that dampens the turbulence. Liquid enters through the open bottom and rises calmly inside the shield. The switch also survives the high-pressure spray nozzles used during weekly tank cleaning. Polypropylene handles the alkaline cleaning solution.
A hydraulic press manufacturer needs low-oil detection in the power unit reservoir. Hydraulic oil is a hydrocarbon — polypropylene would swell and fail. The 10-792-AC uses Acetal construction that's chemically compatible with mineral-based hydraulic fluids, diesel, and motor oil. The 1/4″ bulkhead installs through a smooth hole drilled in the reservoir lid with the Viton O-ring providing a leak-proof seal against pressurized oil mist. When oil drops below the switch point, the press controller locks out operation until the reservoir is refilled — preventing catastrophic pump cavitation.
